Solar carport lifespan, maintenance and dismantling

A carport outlives its panels, and sometimes not the site’s plans. Its whole life must be considered at design stage.

Maintenance to plan

  • Visual inspection of the structure and connections.
  • Periodic electrical checks and thermography.
  • Panel cleaning depending on environment.
  • For steel: corrosion monitoring and touch-ups.
  • Protecting supports against vehicle impact.

Dismantle and reuse

A structure designed to be dismantled lets panels be replaced without touching the frame, frees a site or allows the carport to be reinstalled elsewhere. That is residual value and a case for shorter contracts. See the third-party financing guide.

At SUUN

UHPFRC needs no paint or galvanising, and the ARKLOCK superstructure is designed to be folded as well as deployed: maintenance focuses on electrics and panels. Explore the system.

Frequently asked questions

Does a carport need repainting?

A steel structure may need protection touch-ups, especially by the sea. UHPFRC has no coating to maintain.

What happens after 30 years?

Panels can be replaced on a sound structure, or everything dismantled and recycled or reused.
